The AcquityData AI Connector lets you ask Claude or ChatGPT questions about private equity deals, firms, companies and professionals in plain language. This guide explains what it does, how to set it up, and how to get dependable answers.
Most research tools ask you to learn their filters. The AcquityData AI Connector works the other way round. You describe what you want in your own words, and your AI app runs the searches in AcquityData for you and writes up what it finds.
The AI Connector links AcquityData to AI apps that support custom connectors. At the moment that means Claude and ChatGPT, and any other AI app that supports MCP connectors with sign-in. Once connected, the AI app can search and read AcquityData's companies, private equity firms, transactions and professionals on your behalf.
Everything it reads comes from AcquityData, with the same access as your own account. It does not send you to a different data source, and it does not guess.
The connector covers four kinds of information:
A few example questions:
Setup takes about two minutes. You need an active AcquityData account (the free trial works) and a Claude plan, or a ChatGPT plan, that allows custom connectors. In outline:
In ChatGPT, the idea is the same, but the menu names change from time to time, and custom connectors are only available on some plans. The full, illustrated steps are on the AI Connector page.
AI apps are most useful when you give them a clear question. A few habits help:
The connector is read-only. It can search and read records. It cannot edit, delete or create anything in AcquityData, or in your account.
It also follows the same rules as the website:
You do not need an API key. You sign in with your normal AcquityData login.
If you want to see it in action, start a free trial, open My Account, then AI Connector, and connect it to your AI app. Your first question can be as simple as "Which PE firms were most active in my sector last year?"
